Study in Malaysia

World-class degrees at a third of Western prices, campuses an hour from home, and intakes nearly every quarter. Here is how to pick well.

Why stay (or come) here for your degree

Malaysia hosts branch campuses of Australian and British universities alongside home-grown institutions that now out-rank many of their Western partners in specific subjects. Tuition for a full honours degree typically runs RM 45,000–120,000 — before scholarships.

  • Twinning & 3+0 programmes. Earn a UK or Australian degree certificate without leaving Selangor, or split years between countries.
  • English-medium teaching. Private universities teach fully in English, with MUET or IELTS support if you need it.
  • Low living costs. Students live comfortably on RM 1,500–2,500 a month, including rent, almost anywhere outside central KL.
  • Quarterly intakes. Missed the September rush? January, March and June intakes are standard here.

Pathways into a Malaysian degree

  1. Foundation (1 year)

The fastest bridge from SPM or IGCSE into a specific university's degrees. Cheapest overall, but usually locks you to that institution.

  2. Diploma (2–2.5 years)

Hands-on, job-ready, and lets you enter a degree in year two. The smart pick if you may pause studies to work.

  3. A-Levels / AUSMAT / SACE (1.5–2 years)

Portable qualifications accepted worldwide — the right choice if you might still head abroad for the full degree.

  4. Direct degree entry

For STPM, matriculation, UEC and international qualification holders. We check subject prerequisites before you apply anywhere.
